Time is the biggest resource many small business owners have and it's tempting to simply work late whenever possible, but there needs to be quality as well as quantity of time.
If you absolutely have to work late into the evening on your laptop or phone, may I recommend something that has really helped me?
Look at cutting out a lot of the blue light emitted from your device. Here are two ways of doing that:
1. if you wear glasses, ask your optician to apply a blue light filter to the lens.
2. Alternatively, look at Ocushield as they sell blue light filters which can be applied to the screens of your devices.
The blue light keeps you awake by disrupting the melatonin - so I'm told.
All I know is the blue light filters help me to sleep after working late. Need I say more?
Half of all British business managers are getting by on less than five hours’ sleep a night, according to new research. The study, carried out by the University of Leeds and bed manufacturer Silentnight, also found that almost a quarter (21 per cent) of those surveyed work more than 40 hours a week, and 30 per cent said their work negatively affects their sleep. People who have what they consider to be stressful jobs were significantly more likely to take longer to fall asleep, get less sleep and be unhappy with their sleep.
