Forgive me for being cynical but there is an awful lot said about helping small businesses and then when things get a little tight, the support disappears: should I mention the Business Growth Service at this point?
It will also be interesting to see if the definition of small business ever moves away from the single over-arching definition of and SME. There aren't many people out there that think a business with 249 staff is small!

Thursday marks the passing of Royal Assent for the Enterprise Act, a piece of legislation the government claims will improve the lot of SMEs across a whole range of measures. The package of measures in the Act will “help the government deliver on many of its commitments, from cutting red tape and tackling late payment to boosting the quality and quantity of apprenticeships,” says BIS.
